INTRODUCTION
This practical guide session is to assist participants to carry out a final assessment to identify potential tax agents’ position and/or capabilities prior to submission of Section 153 application with Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL). This explorative session helps you identify the preliminary requirements to qualify for Section 153 tax agent license as well as the basic technical and operational knowledge requirements. This will be a final preparative session for the tax agent interview by HASiL/ Ministry of Finance panel.

Renganathan Kannan is a Tax Controversy partner at TRATAX, an independent tax advisory firm which is ranked among the top 10 firms in the country for transactional tax & indirect tax firm in Malaysia. A licensed tax agent specialising in tax advisory work, Renganathan regularly advises clients from diverse industries on the tax audit, investigation and appeal matters. He served as an elected council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) for three consecutive years (2016-2019) and is a fellow member of various local and international professional bodies and associations for the tax and chartered accountancy sector. A familiar face at various tax forums and seminars, Renganathan regularly speaks about tax matters.
