PROFILE(s)

Alan Chung is currently the Senior Executive Director of Grant Thornton Malaysia. He has more than 20 years of experience in tax compliance, tax advisory and goods and services tax (GST) and played a role in the implementation of the self-assessment system in Malaysia as a secondee to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia. He is currently the Deputy President of CTIM and is a member of Institute’s various committees. In addition, he is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (Chartered Accountant) and CPA of Australia (Certified Practising Accountant).
Angela Lim Li Xuan is a partner of ALN and has over 10 years of professional experience in taxation. She is currently the Southern Branch Chairman of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia. Angela was previously with KPMG, mainly handling tax audit cases for corporate clients including local public listed companies and foreign multi-national corporations. Angela subsequently joined a MNC and manages the Company’s direct and indirect tax affairs for APAC. Angela is actively involved in various tax engagements concerning corporate and individual tax planning strategies/schemes, handling tax audits by the Inland Revenue and Royal Malaysian Customs, inbound investments and cross border transactions.
Benedict Francis is PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia’s Southern Region Leader and Tax Partner. He has over 25 years of experience in both Malaysia and Singapore. He has experience in cross border tax planning, group restructuring, business model optimisation, Mergers & Acquisition, tax structuring for inbound and outbound investments, tax incentive application and negotiation, dealing with tax queries, transfer pricing, tax audit and investigations as well as other advisory work relating to income tax, stamp duty, real property gains tax and double taxation treaties. Diverse client portfolio as he works with large multinationals, local corporations, government linked companies and family owned businesses across various industries such as manufacturing, energy and resources, telecommunication, media and technology, pharmaceutical and life sciences, education, property development, construction services, plantation, shipping, transportation and logistics and others. He speaks frequently on Malaysian taxation at various seminars in Malaysia and abroad and as a panel speaker at seminars organised by the Malaysian Inland Revenue Board, Malaysian Employers Federation, Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia and Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He has also authored several thought leadership articles.
Dr. Rasyidah binti Che Rosli is currently the Director of Operations Policy Section, Tax Operations Department, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL). She has served with HASiL for more than 17 years and been involved in various field including e-Invoicing implementation in IRBM, tax compliance for corporate and individuals as well as being involved with the implementation of data analytics. She has co-authored 2 publications on tax and has presented at tax conferences locally and internationally. Dr. Rasyidah has a PhD in Accounting (Taxation) and holds a Master in Forensic Accounting & Financial Criminology and a Degree in Accounting.
Jesudason has over 15 years experience in the area of taxation specializing in the area of tax audit and tax investigations. He has advised many local and international clients on taxation and other business compliance matters. He also has experience as a Company Secretary and providing Forensic Accounting consultancy including testifying in court as an Expert Witness. Prior to setting up his own practice, Jesu has experience as a lecturer for professional courses and had audit experience in one of the Big 4 Audit Firms. Jesu is currently the Tax Director of Dason & Dason Corporate Advisors Sdn Bhd. He was formerly the Chairman of the Southern Branch of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia and a former Committee Member of the CTIM Tax Audit and Investigation Working Group and Public Practice Committee.
Jihan Zahiah binti Johari joined IRB Min 2012 and have been working on various branches and departments until current assignment with the Tax Operations Department. Over 7 years of experience in tax audit covering companies, individual and MSME business taxation Extensive experience in tax audit, public relations, customer service, and tax education, contributing to improved tax payer relations and compliance.
Robert Yoon leads the Asia-Pacific Fixed Asset Services as well as the Asean Qualitative Services. Robert also leads the Tax Technology, the Business Tax Services practice and Johor tax practice in Malaysia. He has led 2 pilot e-invoicing jobs where a few million invoices were issued annually and about 50 companies located in KL / Selangor/ Penang / Kedah and JB. He has led Enterprise Resource Planning implementation for one of the largest companies in the world including oversight of tax technology and transformation team. He has led Asia-Pacific capital allowance study and fixed asset services for more than 1,700 buildings in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and Cambodia. He has more than 20 years of experience specializing in fixed asset services and he is responsible for the development and automation for the fixed asset services since 2013. In his role, Robert has also led fixed asset register enhancement for a large GLCs. His experience includes conducting tax due diligence, tax documentation review and tax audits, tax training, indirect tax planning and advisory, tax planning schemes for large local and multi-national corporations, and applications for licences, incentives and tax exemptions. He has tax compliance experience in various industries including investment holding, manufacturing, trading, energy and services. He has led various tax advisory engagements including restructuring of private and public listed companies; structuring of overseas ventures; investment incentive applications; and dispute resolution.
Wong Wen Tak started his career with PwC London, gaining experience in IFRS implementation and Sarbanes-Oxley implementation and attestation. Subsequently, he worked as a Senior Internal Auditor for G4S plc, the largest security company in the world, primarily responsible for the Asia, Africa and Middle East region, reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit in London. In 2009, he joined his family practice – M.S. Wong & Co, which he managed and oversaw a period of significant growth and capability building until the firm merged with Grant Thornton Johor operations in 2018. He is currently Chair of the Johor Regional Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA)’s Digital Technology Adoption Awards (DTAA) Task Force. In his personal capacity, he is serving as an independent, non-executive director and Head of Audit Committee in Gromutual Berhad, a company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia. He holds Bachelor of Arts (Economics and Management) from Oxford University, is an Approved Company Auditor and a Licensed GST Tax Agent.
